The Timber Heritage Association: Saving the RR History of the Nor Cal Timber Industry

A Unique Membership Program hosted by
Pete Johnston, President of the Timber Heritage Association
The President of Humboldt County’s Timber Heritage Association will present a fascinating
program discussing progress being made at restoring the Samoa Shops, which houses the
largest collection of Northern California Railroad Timber Industry artifacts in the world.
Mr. Johnston will also talk about THA’s amazing speeder rides, which allow participants to
see historic railroad locations, as well as the flora and fauna of Humboldt Bay. In addition,
photos and information on the group’s massive collection of locomotives and other artifacts
of the once-prosperous timber industry in the Redwood Empire will be presented.
Join us Thursday, January 19th at the San Rafael Community Center – 618 B Street, San
Rafael. Doors open at 6:30pm, and program begins at 7:00 pm. Free to the public but
donations gratefully accepted. Length is approx. 2 hours overall with intermission.
